About The Group

We’ve been meeting biweekly since 2007

The Manchester Stammering Community has been meeting in its current biweekly format since 2007, and has a heritage that traces back to at least the 1950s. Manchester is the only British city other than London to run two speech and language therapy training courses at distinct universities (University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University).

Meet Ups

We meet approximately every two weeks, usually early evening on a weekday such as Monday or Wednesday, and with an option for drinks/food beforehand.

"It was really nice and humbling to meet other stammerers and discovering that they had been going through the same things that I have, I felt connected"

Johnny started stuttering at a young age, after moving countries and changing his dominant language.  Johnny joined the Manchester Stammering Community for the sense of community and enjoys the social element. Find out about Johnny’s full story below.
